I'm a bit of a restless spirit, and I cannot sit still for long amounts of time. This means I can't sit still indoors for very long, either. My body wants to go places and move, in some way or another - whether it is through flying (which I have done as a hobby), or travel, or simply working out and practicing survival skills in the woods. Being actively engaged and embodied gives me a sense of satisfaction that sitting indoors could never give me.

Part of my inability to sit still manifests in a love to discover new places. These could be actual places (like Norway and Scotland, which I specially like), but they can also be metaphysical places - in the sense that I like to explore aspects within my own personality and that of others, to foster personal development. My entire life I have basically been striving to be the Best Of Me. In the same way, I like to help others with that goal.

When people ask me what I did in the past, I tell them, so I will write it here - I studied Cultural Anthropology at the university for four years, and Artistic Expression for three years. However, I discovered that I am not fit for either full-Time Artist life, or the Anthropologist life. My heart has always told me that my path in life is the path of freedom and self-expression. I feel best when I get to move, exploring places and ways of being - and helping people to feel healthier and to invest in their dreams. That's why neither my background in arts nor in anthropology really matter to me. Instead, I'm enthusiastic about my projects Oermonnik and Ilmreynir Outdoor.

I have had some jobs that felt good - like bringing around the mail on my bike, caring for the elderly and helping kids plant veggies. But I never felt like those jobs were it. My first discovery of it came around after I had just walked from the Netherlands to Spain. "It" was a video, by one Kenton of the Rewild University in the US. Kenton had the right idea: why don't we also Rewild humans, instead of only focusing on the environment? It was Rewild University which first inspired me to start my outdoor business. Five years later, the idea is slowly starting to come to fruition, and I couldn't be happier.

(TLDR); I'm a strong-willed individual with a big desire for individual freedom. To misquote Howard Thurman, the world is in desperate need for people who have come alive, and I'd like to be one of them. What's more, I would like to be a person who motivates and helps others to achieve that aliveness - and I think Rewilding is a great tool for that. The Wild Template in our bodies is the key - to breathing, to stillness, to peace of mind. Let's move our bodies and minds forward into strength.

oermonnik: primal gym

oermonnik: primal gym is a workout in the woods. We work on both our physical and mental strength, by combining primal movement techniques (Animal Flow, Primitive Movement, etc) to tone our bodies while at the same improving awareness and meditation skills. Instead of using regular gym equipment, we use what is around us and adapt ourselves to our environment. Using an approach where you train both your body and your consciousness, immersed in nature, you become more attuned to your inner nature. The aim is to make clients feel more optimistic while also feeling stronger physically. For impressions and more information, visit the website:

ilmreynir outdoor

My name is Rowan and my Outdoor Business is called Ilmreynir. "Why?" - you ask. Because Rowan means Ilmreynir, translated (in Icelandic), or Rowan tree. This tree carries with it the symbolic meaning of death and transformation. It was seen as a kind of portal between death and rebirth, and crossing it a rite of passage between one stage in life to the next. With Ilmreynir, I intend to challenge participants into gradual transformation by relying on more on themselves and less on our modern world and its comforts. I think this will help clients develop self-esteem, resilience, and much needed hope. At the same time, Ilmreynir offers a good time and momentary respite from the pressures of modern times.

oerfrequenties: a sound journey

Oerfrequenties is a project I am developing with Dennis. I'm a wild one, but I don't know much about shamanism and frequencies. Dennis has extensive knowledge and experience in that department, and togheter we organize sessions in which people can experience a sound-bath in the woods. With the sounds, people can journey to previously unknown depths, and embody nature and her vibrations like never before. Oerfrequenties aims to make people feel more connected to the world, to the natural environment, and more in tune with their own strength. Be welcome if you want to book a session with us! sixpack sovereign

Sixpack Sovereign is a side-quest I am on. The world is plunged in a gigantic chaos at the moment, and we all could use some strength. With Sixpack, I want to create an opportunity for people to learn techniques designed to foster resilience. These techniques will engage peoples conscious awareness and nervous system, and teach them to find peace in the midst of the turbulence. Kind of like being in the eye of the storm - calm within chaos. I intend to share these techniques online, free of charge - so anybody can access and practice them. Here is an example of a selection of methods we could practice:

  • Breathwork sessions

  • Cold Exposure

  • Moving Meditations

My latest logos for Ilmreynir Outdoor and Oermonnik will be displayed here once they are finished!

Me on my hike in Scotland last year (2024). I walked roughly from Milngavie to Pitlochry. Scottish countryside is fantastic, I love the people and there weren't many bugs. But Scotland is wet. Very wet.
